Knowledge is power! This is particularly true when it comes to financial well-being. A lot of challenges and pain points that most people face could be avoided if they had the right information on hand. Let’s face it, money matters can feel scary and complicated, but the truth is that it doesn’t have to be. As we wind down the first month of 2022, Metropolitan is launching the #WeStart2022 Stronger campaign which aims at equipping consumers with knowledge and tools to better manage their financial matters and reduce the anxiety associated with money so that they can level up their financial game and start the year stronger.
The campaign includes a 3-episode content series launching on the 27th of January 2022 on Metropolitan’s website and social media platforms. This series will place the power in the hands of consumers as information is shared on 3 specific topics:
- Premium deductions and debit orders
- The claims process
- Sum assured amounts
The information is shared in a way that is not intimidating to consumers but is rather relatable, welcoming and featuring people who also understand the struggle and want to have a better 2022.
Metropolitan’s Chief Marketing Officer Tlalane Ntuli explains,
We are excited to continue with the We Start Stronger campaign in 2022. For the campaign this year, we place the spotlight on some of our customers' pain points and included a series that will provide information to assist consumers to overcome some of the typical financial and insurance pain points they have, by providing them with answers to questions that they might be afraid to ask. We believe that there is bravery in asking for help when things get too much. There is no shame in admitting that you don’t know enough about finances or admitting you have misunderstood finances in the past. We want to show that it can be fixed. Knowing how to manage your money better will translate to a more confident mindset where you worry less and make better choices – as the saying goes when we know better, we do better,
Because finances aren't talked about openly, people often suffer in silence surrounded by fear of being judged. The series will feature real customers who talk about their lived experiences while getting nuggets of knowledge from financial consumer journalist Gerald Mwandiambira, social media content creator Kay Radebe and Metropolitan Complaints Manager, Sinazo Kalako. The guests are hosted by TV personality Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi who gets the guests to tackle the topics while enjoying a meal prepared by TV host and Chef, Chef Lentswe Bhengu. Chef Lentswe, who decided to hang up his investment tie to become a chef, not only brings his financial knowledge to each episode but curates mouth-watering dishes inspired by the topic of the day.
The debut episode will focus on premium deductions, where Nomsa shares an experience that saw her calling her girlfriends to have a proper venting session and how choosing the right insurance can help ease the burden on your pocket. Episode 2 is called "Claim your power!" and talks about claims and the claims process, understanding how it works, and empowering through knowledge - even during emotional events like funerals. Episode 3, titled "Even better together" is about sum assured amounts and how this can help with intense financial literacy in terms of insurance and how it can help alleviate financial burdens and stress; even in situations that we would prefer to ignore.
We Start 2022 Stronger is about creating new beginnings out of uncertain times and decisions, and this campaign enables us to help reduce anxieties by having real and authentic conversations surrounding money, insurance, and financial choices. Because life becomes better when we know what to do.
